Healsage pro massage gun Massagers, Reviews

Before doing our Healsage massage gun review, the Healsage Pro Australia was on on our radar for a while to test out in 2024. We generally notice that the majority of massage guns come from the US and Europe so we were excited to find a good quality massage gun, like the Healsage massage gun designed in Australia to add to our inventory.

We have tried, tested and reviewed handfuls of massage guns with varying levels of quality, design and features. With percussive therapy guns, the funny thing is whether you are an elite athlete training in an uber competitive fashion or you are someone who spends long hours sitting at a desk, the muscular pain you experience still exists, the difference is just the mechanisms that cause the pain.

In either case, it is important to have a regime to correct and encourage muscle recovery from the benefits of a massage gun so the pain, stiffness, DOMS and cramping isn’t a compounding issue. And to do that, one of the key bits of recovery gear we have on hand is a quality massage gun. We can happily share you with our Healsage Massage Gun Pro review as we break down how the Healsage compares to other massage guns in amplitude, price, stall force, noise, warranty and battery life.

Healsage Massage Gun PRO Review Australia [2024]

We put the Healsage massage gun pro through its paces for this 2024 review. We know a lot about recovery. We also know that you are facing no shortage of options for technological remedies for muscle recovery and athletic performance. There can be a bit of a paralysis of choice at times, but this is where we come in. We know the basic question you want answered when looking for a massage gun is simply: “which is the best massage gun in Australia?”. The simple answer to that is, The Healsage Massage Gun Pro, but let’s break it down in our review why we think so.

We have tried and tested over 50 different bits of recovery and wellness gear and gadgets (and counting) in the name of optimising your body and mind. We know the value of percussion therapy for recovery so a portion of our gear testing tally has been spent testing massage guns and we are always thrilled to support a homegrown quality Australian product when we find one.

Based on our extensive product research, there’s a few things you need to know about the Healsage massage gun so here is our honest review.

Bottom Line: We didn’t think 6 hours of battery life, 4 unique functions including the smart AI function that adjusts pressure based on user input, 6 attachments heads and a carry case would fit into a gym bag, but at 1.1kg, the Healsage Massage Gun Pro does exactly that.

We have been lucky enough to be blessed with our very own Healsage Pro Massage Gun to review. Initially, we had our reservations about a product that currently sits at less than half the price of the top of the line massage guns on the market like the Theragun Pro. What the Healsage Pro massage gun proves to us is that you can have an all round high performing massage gun without breaking the bank. What are we basing our rating off when we talk about Healsage Pro massage gun being our top pick of Australian massage guns?

Why The Healsage Massage Gun Pro Is A No-Brainer For Recovery

After trying over 20 different massage guns we are more than qualified to give an accurate and honest Healsage massage gun review. The Healsage Pro stacks up pretty well in these important functions for the price. There are a number of metrics that we consider of significant importance when choosing a massage gun. At the end of the day, they all employ some degree of percussive action that penetrates into the muscle tissue and provides us with a host of warm up and post exercise muscle recovery benefits, all backed by science of course. To get a picture of the whole package, when choosing a massage gun we look for the following:

Percussion Rate and Depth

These are the metrics that basically determine how many vibrational forces and at what depth they are delivered to the muscles. Technically speaking, we are referring to the amplitude and rpm that the massage gun punches out.

The amplitude of the Healsage Pro massage gun is 12mm. Admittedly, this is a couple of mm shallower than some of its competitors go but the funny thing is there is a point of diminishing return with amplitude.

We think the Healsage Pro massage gun has actually nailed it with the amplitude level. Consider one end of the spectrum a punch and the other end a flick – somewhere in that spectrum lies an ideal pressure for muscle recovery. What we are saying here is that a higher amplitude does not necessarily mean better. Having trialled and tested numerous other massage guns that sit around the 16mm amplitude level, 12mm is a much happier medium and we all agree that 16mm can feel a little too “punchy” even on muscles that aren’t overly tender from exercise.

In terms of rpm, the Healsage Pro massage gun presents a number of positives that tickle our fancy. Having 4 different preset speeds the rpm ranges between 900-3200rpm. What we have noticed is that a lot of other massage gun options will unnecessarily have the option of upwards of 7 speeds settings.

If you do consider a slightly more dynamic speed setting essential, the Healsage massage gun is cleverly equipped with an integrated smart AI setting that changes the speed based on the user input – the more pressure applied the greater the speed. This is what we generally run the gun on the whole time as it allows you to have really good pressure control as you move the massage gun around to different areas of the body with varying muscle sensitivity without having to pause to change a single single setting. This AI function is not common in massage guns but it is becoming more and more popular as well as the addition of apps that can be integrated into phones for preset massage gun sessions and tracking.

Battery Life

When we review any massage guns one of the main functions we rate is the battery life. The Healsage massage gun blows a lot of other massage guns out of the park in this area, with 6 hours of continuous use. Among the plethora of options on the massage gun market, we have seen some BIG discrepancies in battery life. Ranging anywhere between 1-8 hours from the massage guns we have seen so far, the battery life is a big consideration for us as we love to take our massage gun to use at work, in the car and on the go.

Not having to charge the Healsage massage gun for up to 18 individual 20 minute percussion sessions is pretty special. The Healsage massage gun also has a handy digital indicator of its battery percentage on the bottom of the shaft which is a cool feature to take the guesswork out of how much life it has remaining.

Healsage Price

Money talks, and the Healsage massage gun price is on point in our eyes. Often when purchasing a product, perception governs behaviour. What we mean by that is that we are guilty of sometimes painting a picture of quality based purely from the price. The Healsage Pro massage gun has crushed that thinking. At less than half the price of the biggest competitor, Theragun, we can see that muscle recovery doesn’t necessarily burden us with a big price tag.

At $299 for the Healsage Pro, we consider this massage gun an absolute no brainer. As we discuss in this section, none of the metrics that are considered essential when choosing a massage gun are sacrificed. The Healsage Pro massage gun option obviously saves a bit of cost on not having any app integration, second battery, or flashy marketing campaigns but for functionality those features are most definitely non-essential. The value that the Healsage Pro massage gun offers in comparison to its competitors makes it a no-brainer for a percussion therapy device that suits a broad range of users and is also a home grown (unsure about country of manufacture) Australian product.

Healsage Australia also has a really compact version of massage gun that has been around a little longer that is a fraction of the price and a fraction of the size. We would love to get our hands on one of these for travelling with but have unfortunately not tried yet.

User Experience

Under the user experience umbrella for a massage gun review we take into account all things from ordering the product to its aesthetic and functionality.

If we take a look from the top, our order process was seamless and the Healsage Pro massage gun arrived at our doorstep within 3 days of ordering (in Australia of course).

We definitely appreciate a cutout case for our gear and the Healsage Pro massage gun case and aesthetic really makes us excited! The matt black wrapped massage gun is super sexy and is actually ergonomically a pleasure to use (being so light).

The 6 attachments of the Healsage Pro massage gun are all easily interchangeable and serve a different purpose. As a comparison to the rest of the market, 6 attachments is at the higher end of the spectrum and to be honest we haven’t found ourselves longing for any other variety of attachment to reach a place or muscle we couldn’t reach with the 6 attachments the Healsage PRO offers.

We found that we stuck mostly with the round head attachment as it is the most versatile and suitable for the most muscle groups but below is a snapshot of how specific you can get with using the different attachments. Feel free to refer to the image to get a better understanding of what we describe here.

Spine massage head: Suitable for delicately massaging the neck and spine. It features somewhat of a fork that allows the vertebrae of the spine to sit between as you slide the gun up and down the spine. Again this is an area where the lowest setting or the AI setting works its arse off.

Flat massage head: Apply anywhere – it’s revitalising all over. We find this head particularly handy on areas like the chest/pecs that don’t require too much penetration/amplitude to feel the pressure.

Small round head: Great for training groups of medium-sized muscles.

Round head: Targeted relief for larger muscle groups. Both of the round heads are our most used choice and the most versatile out of the 6. The slight amount of give in these foam heads allows you to be able to apply them to most areas of the body, except when you are looking for a more focussed point for deeper muscles. For that we would recommend the bullet head.

training Massagers, Reviews

Bullet head: Perfect for deep muscle penetration when soreness strikes hard. The bullet head is pretty handy to either focus on a pinpoint area or for directing a little more pressure into an area around the hips and glutes for example that might need a little more direct force applied to get where you need keeping in mind how much mass can be in the way before hitting the muscle.

Cushion head: Softer massage head, better for muscle activation and warm-up. We chose this head when we are 5-10 minutes out from a workout and want to give a good buzz around all of the muscle groups we are about to use in the session. Having used the Healsage for a couple of months now we have experienced how handy this head is for doing an all round warm up before a race too. It also works really well for super tender muscle groups that might be hammered after a race, a solid week of training or a cobweb removal session after a long hiatus from training that just leaves the muscles in shock.

Healsage Pro Massage Gun Warranty

Of course reliability is near the top of the list for us when choosing any piece of equipment, especially one for recovery. We want to know that the money we spend will translate into a massage gun that will last a long time, be somewhat hardy, durable and be able to be bashed around a little, and a product that when repairs are required you are looked after. Generally a product’s warranty has some degree of reflection on the confidence the brand has in its own product. Healsage Pro massage gun offers a 12 months warranty on its gear and also carries out all of their repairs and maintenance within Australia which we love.

Generally, a product’s warranty reflects the confidence the brand has in its own product. Healsage Pro massage gun offers a 12-month warranty on its gear, which is a testament to its reliability and durability. The assurance that comes with a solid warranty can give users peace of mind, knowing that their investment is protected.

Moreover, Healsage Pro carries out all of their repairs and maintenance within Australia, which we love. This local service not only ensures quicker turnaround times for any necessary repairs but also supports local businesses and technicians. Having maintenance and repair services nearby means less downtime if issues arise, allowing you to get back to your recovery routine without significant delays.

The Healsage Pro massage gun is built with high-quality materials designed to withstand the rigors of frequent use. Its robust construction means it can handle being tossed into gym bags or taken on trips without falling apart. This durability is essential for athletes and fitness enthusiasts who need a reliable tool to aid in their recovery after intense workouts or competitions.

Is The Healsage Pro Massage Gun For Me?

If you are Australian and looking to support an massage gun designed locally in Australia the Healsage Pro massage gun is a no-brainer. The Healsage Pro is the best massage gun Australia has to offer at this stage. Usually, we have a different recommendation based on how and where the massage gun is going to be used versus the price commitment and quality. The Healsage Pro massage gun, though, really suits a broad range of users. We have some high performers on the RG team and have no problem recommending this gun for athletes to all of the things one would need a massage gun to do even in a commercial gym or wellness space. We have discussed in depth the science behind how massage guns may prevent and delay doms to some degree and improve muscle performance.

In the middle of the spectrum we can see the value versus outlay for people who are training perhaps more than they usually would be for an upcoming event or training block they have started at a new gym or program. At the same time, the design features of the Healsage Pro massage gun make it easy to carry around in a gym or work bag being a little over 1kg, making it well suited for taking on the go.

At the opposite end of the spectrum to athlete, we would still consider this gun a win for the weekend warriors that use the gun for a bit of post-training session relief they require it for on the occasional day of training or to find some relief from being slightly (or heavily) sedentary during the working week. The outlay for this crucial bit of recovery kit is minimal for the accessibility it gives us to 24/7 self massage that in many ways replaces a foam roller and traditional massage (which both definitely still have their place in recovery). Trust us, you will find yourself making so much use of the Healsage Pro massage gun while watching TV or sitting at the desk at work.

Final Word From RG

As we said, we have tried a vast selection of massage guns. The percussion gun market is ever increasing but our review of The Healsage Pro Massage Gun shows that Healsage are staying very competitive in the market and we think this massage gun is a take home standout. This may change as more Australian made massage guns enter the market but Healsage offers a high quality product with exceptional after purchase care in its warranty and money back guarantees.

Healsage massage guns cut a lot of the potentially unnecessary features that some top of the range (in price) massage guns offer and focus on only the things that matter, which proves to be a high quality, high value massage gun that suits a large spectrum of fitness/ athletic user requirements. Not only that, the massage gun in general replaces some of the functions of using a foam roller, trigger point balls and more expensive traditional massage, giving you a bit of a 3-for-1 recovery tool. Essentially, we urge you as a potential Australian massage gun buyer to not waste your precious hard earned money on anything else and trust out Healsage massage gun review.
