Ekrin 365 review

In anticipation for Ekrin’s newest entry level massage gun to become available again, it’s a good idea to first read our Ekrin 365 review. Ekrin are good at massage guns, we know that by now. The Ekrin 365 Massage Gun is no exception to Ekrin Athletics’ track record for producing high quality, well designed and aesthetically pleasing massage guns.

We have had so much value out of the Ekrin B37 massage gun with it in our muscle recovery tool kit for the last 24 months that we reached out to Ekrin Australia and asked if we could trial and review their newest model - Ekrin 365

In this article, we will give you our honest feedback on this new entry-level percussion beast and breakdown all of the key features that make this a competitive massage gun including price, warranty, design, attachments, noise and battery. We will also give you a comparison of Ekrin 365 vs B37 and other Ekrin models to show the major differences.

Why Choose An Ekrin Athletics Massage Gun?

Ekrin athletics massage gun range

We were first introduced to Ekrin Athletics when we were handed the Ekrin B37 massage gun by an athlete and military vet friend. After reaching out to Ekrin to test it for ourselves we realised Ekrin is a well established competitor in the muscle recovery gun market, despite some other brand names like Theragun and Hypervolt being more household names. Ekrin actually began with the Ekrin B37 and was an underdog US brand that focuses on fitness recovery technology, founded in 2019 by college students - Dan and Elise Kozak.

“Derived from the Greek words "ekriktikós" and "kínisi", meaning "explosive" and "movement", our goal at Ekrin Athletics is to help athletes achieve just that - explosive athletic movements.  We embody this ethos every day as we focus on finding ways to improve muscle recovery, blood flow, and range of motion.”

Ekrin athletics meaning

Ekrin Athletics collaborates with pro and collegiate athletes and trainers to help design tools that meet their high standard of performance and it is obvious from their massage gun reviews that they are offering a high quality, successful and price competitive massage gun to the masses.

Ekrin has a number of other massage guns including the more powerful massage gun - Ekrin B37S and the mini massage gun - Ekrin Bantam. The customer service reviews across all of these types of massage guns is impeccable and the lifetime warranty offered makes them a market leader.

The Device

The design of the Ekrin 365 has stayed true to the usual Ekrin Athletics massage gun aesthetic, with the 15 degree ergonomic handle remaining a key and useful feature of the percussion gun. We first noticed the sleek design when we reviewed the Ekrin B37 which is a slightly larger, more powerful version of the Ekrin 365.

Read our full Ekrin B37 Review here

The colour is a stylish, uni-sex pastel blue which we find very attractive adnd which makes the Ekrin 365 perfect for both women and men (and anyone else). We noticed that the handle is actually quite a bit thinner than the Ekrin B37 which obviously both reduces the weight but also reduces the battery size and life.

The Ekrin 365 also features a slightly more user friendly touch sensitive control panel at the top of the massage gun with some cool blue lighting when in operation. There are 4 simple power settings that are reflected by a small pin prick white LED light on the control panel as well as a similar display for the battery level.

Attachments

Ekrin 365 massage gun heads

The Ekrin 365 comes with 4 varying density and shape attachments that make it quite versatile for releasing different muscle groups and varying levels of muscle tightness and pain. Although the Ekrin 365 has less attachments when compared to the Ekrin B37 which we have also tested and reviewed extensively, there are enough options to cover all areas of the body.

Below is a quick guide as to where to use each of the 4 attachments for the Ekrin 365 massage gun, the Ball, Cone, Fork and Flat…

Ball Head

The ball head is made from a softer air filled rubber and is perfect for a light massage and good for more bony areas. It has a lot of give to it, meaning that we found it useful around the shoulder and neck areas where it can be tender and where a lot of people hold tension but hard to hit with a solid attachment. We also found this attachment really good for massaging the chest area.

Cone Head

The cone attachment is our most used attachment for the Ekrin 365 massage gun and is a combination of a rubber tip with a hard plastic layered cone making it the perfect massage gun for feet and other trigger points. We also find this attachment a little more useful for tight, tender hips and glutes.

Fork Head

The fork attachment is perfect for massaging the spine and getting a partner to massage the traps and around the scapula. The gap between the forks allows for a bit of a dual massage head and lets the spine sit in the gap to avoid hitting the bone. We really like this attachment for releasing tight calves and hamstrings too.

Flat Head

The flat head is a universal attachment and is quite handy when you have sore tender muscles for a lighter massage without too much pressure from a pointed head. This attachment can be used everywhere on all muscle groups with varying pressure applied depending on the area being massaged.

Carry Bag

Ekrin 365 carry case

We can not look past a neat, foam cut out carry case for our massage guns. The Ekrin 365 carry case gives a very good first impression of the massage gun and really shows the attention to details that Ekrin exercises on their products. The gun, its four attachments and USB charger is tightly packed into the case that measures 300x200x30mm making it a perfect travel massage gun kit.

Ekrin 365 Massage Gun Performance

Ekrin massage guns

Whenever we do a massage gun review there are some key indicators that we always look at for performance: stall force, amplitude, percussions (or rpm) battery life and also warranty. These factors give a good indication of the power of the massage gun, the amount of pressure that can be applied for a deep tissue massage, how long a massage gun can be used for and how confident we can be in the working parts of the massage gun. Let’s break down these key performance indicators for the Ekrin 365…

Stall Force

Stall force of a massage gun is generally measured in lbs and is literally the amount of pressure that can be applied to the massage gun by the user before the motor will ‘stall’ or pause. What is good to consider with the stall force when choosing a massage gun to buy is ‘how hard do you like it’ and where are you using the massage gun most? If you are massaging for deep tissue around areas like the quads and want to apply a very hard pressure then you will need a massage gun with a big stall force.

The Ekrin 365 has a stall force of 28-40lbs. This is a step down from the Ekrin B37 which has a maximum stall force of 56lbs but it is still acceptable and plenty strong enough for even a hard massage in our experience using the massage gun for the last month.

Amplitude

You might also hear this referred to as stroke length in other reviews and is basically the distance that the head of the massage gun travels with each percussion or in, out motion. This feature really determines the oomph of or punch of the massage gun to be more descriptive and the general rule is the higher the stroke length the larger the amplitude or force that the massage gun can give.

The Ekrin 365 has an amplitude of 12mm. If we compare this to some other massage guns it is not the best but it does the trick. The 12mm of amplitude offers the middle range of amplitude on the Ekrin massage gun range and is only about 4mm of difference between some of the more powerful massage guns out there like the Theragun Pro or the Achedaway Pro which pump out 16mm of amplitude.

Percussions

The percussions of a massage gun measures the amount of revolutions or vibrations that a massage gun head pumps out and you may also see it referred to as rpm. This gives the massage gun its vibrational force and is good at distributing the force applied by the amplitude in a way.

The Ekrin 365 has an rpm of 2000-3200rpm. This rpm range obviously differs depending on the speed setting and to be honest, 3200 rpm at the top speed is plenty intense enough.

Battery and Charging

Ekrin 365 USB charging

Ekrin 365 Massage Gun USB charger

Since Ekrin’s aim in offering this new entry-level massage gun was to be a model that is right in between all of their other available model massage guns, the reduction in size has also meant a reduction in battery size and life.

The Ekrin 365 has a battery life of 5+ hours. This is absolutely fine in our eyes, considering it gives you roughly 10-15 sessions of 20 minutes duration before needing to recharge in our experience. We have really appreciated the new USB-C style charging attachment too as it means that you can easily plug the massage gun into a standard Iphone or Samsung charging port, into your computer or into a power bank to charge the massage gun and there is no need for an extra charging unit which minimises the fittings inside the carry case. Smart move!

Warranty

Warranty is a key indicator of how confident a brand is in their own product. The warranty also gives the user a level of confidence in buying the massage gun online with the ability to return broken or faulty parts.

The Ekrin 365 has a lifetime warranty. This makes Ekrin Athletics an industry leader in the massage gun warranty department. As people that review many different massage guns on the market, a lifetime warranty really reflects that quality and customer service pledge that Ekrin has to their customers. This is a huge win for buying an Ekrin massage gun.

Who Should Buy The Ekrin 365?

This is an entry level massage gun but is still suitable for a broad range of users. The Ekrin 365 is suited to those who are buying their first massage gun and looking for a super reliable, mid strength gun for exercise recovery. Considering it’s thin and ergonomic design, the Ekrin 365 is the best massage gun for women and also a good massage gun for teenagers or someone with smaller hands.

Those looking for a good massage gun for travel would also be suited to the Ekrin 365 considering its lightweight design and compact travel case, as well the convenience of the USB-C charging attachment. This may also make the massage gun a suitable buy for office workers who are looking to have a massage gun close by for muscle release during work hours that can be plugged into the computer or wall charger.

The Ekrin 365 is definitely not a commercial massage gun and is probably not suitable for heavy use at gyms or for practitioner use either. For this heavy use we would recommend either one of the stronger Ekrin models or another type of massage gun.

Final Word On Ekrin 365 Review

Overall, in doing our Ekrin 365 review over the last 30 days we have not necessarily been surprised by the quality and performance of the massage gun. Having had solid experience with previous models of Ekrin massage guns, the Ekrin 365 continues that pattern and fills the gap for an entry level massage gun that is very suitable for travel and muscle recovery on the go with its handy USB charger. We would rate the Ekrin 365 4.5/5 due to its simplicity, weight, price and design.
