Why Use a Sauna Blanket?

Using a sauna blanket offers several benefits that contribute to overall well-being and relaxation. Here are some detailed reasons to consider using a sauna blanket:

Detoxification

Sauna blankets help promote detoxification by inducing sweating. Sweating is a natural process that allows the body to eliminate toxins, heavy metals, and other impurities through the skin. The deep sweating induced by a sauna blanket can aid in flushing out toxins from the body, leading to a cleaner and healthier system.

Weight Loss and Metabolism Boost

Sauna blankets can be a helpful tool for weight loss and boosting metabolism. The heat generated by the blanket increases the heart rate, which in turn increases blood circulation and metabolism. This enhanced metabolic activity can contribute to burning calories and aiding in weight loss efforts.

Muscle Relaxation and Recovery

Sauna blankets can provide relaxation and relief to tired and sore muscles. The heat from the blanket helps improve blood flow to the muscles, promoting relaxation and reducing muscle tension. This can be particularly beneficial after intense physical activity or for individuals dealing with muscle stiffness or minor injuries.

Stress Reduction and Mental Well-being

The heat and warmth of a sauna blanket can have a calming effect on the mind and body, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. The soothing heat can help release endorphins, which are natural mood boosters, and can contribute to a sense of overall well-being. Regular use of a sauna blanket can be a valuable addition to a self-care routine and a way to unwind and de-stress.

Improved Skin Health

Sauna blankets can have positive effects on the skin. The heat and sweating induced by the blanket can help open up pores, allowing for deep cleansing and removal of impurities. This can lead to clearer skin and a healthy, radiant complexion. Additionally, the increased blood circulation can provide the skin with essential nutrients and oxygen, promoting a healthier and more vibrant appearance.

Convenience and Accessibility

Sauna blankets offer the convenience of enjoying sauna sessions in the comfort of your own home. Unlike traditional saunas, which require dedicated space and installation, sauna blankets are portable and easy to use. They can be stored compactly and used whenever desired, making them accessible for regular sauna sessions without the need to visit a spa or gym.

Cost-Effective Alternative

Investing in a sauna blanket can be a cost-effective alternative to traditional saunas. Sauna blankets are generally more affordable, require less maintenance, and have lower energy consumption compared to built-in saunas. They offer a convenient way to experience the benefits of a sauna without the associated expenses.

Hydragun HeatPod Sauna Blanket Review

Hydragun HeatPod Sauna Blanket Review

No joke, I sometimes prefer a sauna blanket over a full sized sauna. Why? There is something about the way a sauna blanket hugs the body and provides a little but of weight that gives instant relaxation.

Of course, it is real nice to be able to move around and stretch in a full sized sauna, but this is not always an accessible option for everyone. To be honest, if you turn up the heat full on sauna blankets like the Hydragun Heatpod sauna blanket, you will sweat hard and you will sweat heavy.

What I love about the Hydragun HeatPod is that it actually offer the highest temperature setting out of any sauna blanket on the market, at 85 degrees Celsius available on the controller.

When you buy the Hydragun Heatpod online, you are able to choose between purchasing just the Heatpod on its own, with a towel insert, or with towel insert, pillow and footrest. I have just been using a pillow with the towel draped over it, but you sweat a surprisingly large amount around the neck and head area, so it is actually probably worth getting the pillow.

The Hydragun Heatpod Sauna blanket has one of the very few zipper designs, most of the other I have tried like the Mihigh and Heat Healer feature Velcro to peel open the sauna blanket, and I have to say I actually much prefer the zipper, as it is a strong heavy duty zip and makes it far easier to get in and out of the blanket.

The overall user experience of the Hydragun Heatpod is about a 9/10, with a very clean design and easy to follow instructions, extremely simple to use controller and high heat settings, the Heatpod is easily top three sauna blankets to date. The product is made from an SGS certified vegan leather which gives it a really nice, soft feel on the skin and makes it environmentally conscious.

In terms of comfort, the Hydragun HeatPod has a bit more of a well designed material and felt a bit heavier than most other infrared sauna blankets I’ve tried, but the Heat Healer was still superior in this feature, also with the added extra of the Jade and Tourmeline stones which help to disperse the heat a little more evenly through the blanket.

Much like a normal infrared sauna, the Heatpod took about 10 minutes to heat up to its full range of 85C, and if you start out in the blanket at normal temp, you will be sweating by the time it reaches this temperature like I was.

You can set the timer to anywhere from 5-60 minutes, and I guarantee you, you will be absolutely drenched if you try to stay in for the full time amount. I usually aim for about 30-40 minutes in the sauna blanket, which was pretty challenging with the slightly higher temperature of the Hydragun Heatpod compared to other brands.

Not only that, the Heatpod brand is one of the most customer friendly brands for this type of wellness gear, and they offer a hassle free returns and exchanges process as well as free shipping in Australia.

Design

The design of the Hydragun HeatPod Infrared Sauna Blanket is commendable, with attention to detail and high-quality materials. The smooth and soft leather-like texture of the blanket, along with top-notch stitching, gives it a luxurious feel. The presence of a zipper closure, as opposed to Velcro, makes it easier to enter and exit the blanket. Although it would have been more convenient to have access to the zipper from the inside, the overall design and construction of the HeatPod are impressive.

The HeatPod offers a range of features that contribute to its effectiveness and convenience. The blanket is made from premium SGS-certified, sweat-resistant vegan leather, ensuring durability and sustainability.

The spacious size of the blanket can accommodate users up to 196 cm tall, and the comfortable interior lining enhances the overall sauna experience. The densely wound carbon fiber heating coils provide even heat distribution, while the triple protective lining ensures heat retention and temperature accuracy. The standout feature is the zero electromagnetic field (EMF) emission, thanks to the Faraday-shielded heating coils, making the sauna sessions safe and worry-free.

Price

At $749, the Hydragun HeatPod Infrared Sauna Blanket may be slightly more expensive than similar sauna blankets on the market, it is a worthwhile investment for those seeking high-quality and long-lasting recovery products.

The superior construction, innovative features, and zero EMF emission justify the price point and ensure a satisfying sauna experience. Not only that, if you are looking for the best temperature range you might be happy paying that little bit extra for more heat capability. The warranty being a little longer than the majority of other brands at about half a year longer, also accounts for some of that increased price point.

User Experience

As I mentioned, very happy with the overall experience with the Hydragun HeatPod Infrared Sauna Blanket, the biggest tick in the box was the highest heat rating of any sauna blanket I’ve used or seen on the market right now.

The luxurious construction and comfortable materials provided a pleasant and enjoyable sauna session. The adjustable temperature settings allowed for personalised preferences, and I found the optimal temperature at 75-80°C was the sweet spot. The even heat distribution throughout the blanket was notable, and considering I went into the sauna blanket with super tight quads that were twitching and came out with much more relaxed with fresher feeling legs shows me the sauna blanket is just as good as your average standard sized sauna for the sweat and muscle relaxation benefits. The user-friendly setup, intuitive remote control, and automatic shutoff feature added to the convenience of using the HeatPod. The easy clean-up and maintenance process is also a bonus.

  • Strong zipper access, not Velcro

  • High maximum temperature (85°C)

  • Zero EMF emission

Overall, the Hydragun Heatpod is a really high quality sauna blanket but the only thing bringing it down is the price compared to some of the other competitors. Even still, we would give the Hydragun Heatpod sauna blanket a rating of 4.7/5.

The even heat distribution, zero EMF emission, fast heat up period and user-friendly controls contribute to a satisfying sauna experience. Although the lack of zipper access from the inside may be a minor inconvenience, the overall benefits of the HeatPod outweigh this drawback.
